what was planned as a hiking + foto trip turned out to be an unexpected culinary expedition in the end. slovenia has never been on my food map. but you travel and learn.
thanks to the tasting menus there was a lot to learn.
... if i ever run out of ideas to travel i'll do a all you can eat restaurant trip in slovenia. they have chefs who know how to cook.

i admit, oscar wild is right in this case: 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness' (considering myself being mediocre compared to the professionals but in the very right area of the gaussian curve of amateurs [regarding taste, excluding presentation of dishes])

The plate – here we brought you the other half of the dish. It is in a plate that resembles the sandstone, since its very comon here. At the bottom of the plate – we have pure made from vegetable roots that we usually use for the soup. On top of it we have a piece of fried bread, and on top of it we have squid noodles. It is squid cooked, cooled down, and then thinly sliced and we keep it cold because we want to show that squid are usually caught in the coldest water so in the summer we need to go to the deeper areas of the sea while in the winter you can catch them from the shore.
